Fancy getting paid €15k to live on an island in the Med? Well, that's exactly what Sardinia is offering to individuals if they'll up sticks and move to its shores.

The catch: you've got to put the money towards buying a home. The idea is to rejuvenate an ageing population by luring in affluent young people, but critics of the scheme say it's not going to attract the real moneymakers — remote workers. Here's why.

It was a sleepy month on the funding front, as many VCs hit holiday mode and downturn-induced caution washed over the ones still in the office.

While France saw the biggest dip among European countries in funding — falling from €33m in July to €8m in August (!) — healthtech knocked fintech off its perch as the top sector for seed deals, bringing in €49m.

Digital nomad schemes have popped up in loads of European countries since remote work started booming two years ago — but Italian island Sardinia is taking a novel approach. 

The government is offering people €15k to move to its sunny shores — providing they buy or renovate a home on the island.
