Inflation hesitation. If you’re in the US, chances are you’ve noticed grocery prices going up or staying level while products get smaller in size. As US adults experience this “shrinkflation” and see less bang for their buck, their behavior is changing. For example, fewer Americans are willing to try a new recipe or a new packaged food product in a world where their dollar doesn’t go as far. CPG companies will need to adopt new solutions to keep up with inflation-driven changes in customer behavior.

Crypto consumption. Global crypto asset activity consumes more electricity than the entire country of Argentina on an annual basis. While crypto asset networks’ total power usage can’t be directly monitored, these recent estimates will likely compound pre-existing concerns about the environmental impact of Bitcoin’s Proof of Work (PoW) consensus mechanism. Another one bites the dust. DocuSign shares have plummeted 65% from the start of the year. They are now down over 80% from their 2021 peak. Like Peloton, Zoom, and Netflix, the electronic signature provider experienced considerable growth over the course of the pandemic given that it catered to a population stuck at home.
