Try Guy flies too high, defies wife with wandering eye

They're trying an alleged cheating scandal this week

Update: This afternoon the Try Guys released a statement saying that Ned Fulmer would no longer be working with them. “As a result of a thorough internal review, we do not see a path forward together,” the statement read. 

If you engaged with BuzzFeed content circa 2016, you likely remember who the Try Guys are. They’re guys who try things on camera, ranging from everything on the Taco Bell menu to everything on the Pizza Hut menu. Four years ago they left Jonah Peretti’s shingle, where they had become bona fide internet stars, and struck out on their own; since then, they have amassed almost 8 million subscribers on YouTube, created an extended universe of sorts, and presumably made more money than you or I will ever see in our lives. All has been well for them until last night, when rumors that Try Guy Ned Fulmer cheated on his Try Wife, Ariel Fulmer, with Alex Herring, host of the Try Guys series “Food Babies.”

That is basically the gist of it, but I’m sure you have more questions. Namely, who? And, what? Do not worry, I am here to try and explain.

Okay… So What Happened?

Last night in a now-deleted Reddit post, one fan combined all of the allegedly suspect behavior from the past few weeks. An ad in which the Try Guys advertise their new line of tracksuits only featured the three guys who are not Ned, the regular intro to their videos had been changed to only feature the other three, and Ned had not appeared on the latest episodes of their podcast, the TryPod (clever name). Ariel, the wife, also hosts a TryPod, and she has not been on the last two episodes. Weird, right? It gets weirder.

A different Reddit user claimed to have proof that Ned had been cheating on Ariel. When asked to show it, they shared Instagram DMs with an unknown source who said that someone they both knew (the name was blurred out, but it was apparently a “she” wearing a red dress) had been making out with Ned at a bar in New York City — the East Village mainstay Niagara, for those wondering. I am no longer worried, darling. After finally seeing Don’t Worry Darling this past weekend, the more accurate descriptor would probably be confused, or maybe frustrated. All that behind the scenes drama for a movie that is like, a C+ at best? Like most middling thrillers, Don’t Worry Darling leaves us with a bunch of questions that will never receive satisfying answers. That won’t stop us from asking them, though.

The film's troubles go back way further than the turmoil on set

First, the good news: Don’t Worry Darling did not flop. Olivia Wilde’s critically maligned, drama-laden sophomore feature made $19.2 million at the box office this past weekend, recouping about two-thirds of its budget. It’s on track to more or less break even, so everyone at Warner Bros can finally sleep at night, knowing their future is safe with Black Adam.

The relative success of the film’s box office came after a few 11th hour — or 13th, if we’re being honest — twists and turns. The first of which was a story at Vulturedetailing a supposed screaming argument between Wilde and the film’s lead, Florence Pugh, and the latter’s subsequent decision to “take things all the way to the top” in order to be released from her promotional obligations to the film. Then, 40 of the film’s crew members signed a letter saying no such incident happened, and that Wilde created a “collaborative and safe space” on set. Yesterday, however, Lainey Gossip confirmed that the argument did happen, and perhaps there is more yet to be uncovered.

“But as annoyed as people got with Wilde — and they got VERY annoyed — there is still a circle of protection in effect. All three of my sources hinted at worse happenings still, but were unwilling to go on the record, even as unnamed sources, about what went on, because no one actually wants to torpedo Wilde’s career,” Lainey explained. He’s finally speaking out...just in time for his new podcast...

On Monday morning, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema joined Sen. Mitch McConnell to chat about bi stuff — in this case, a speech called “The Future of Political Discourse and the Importance of Bipartisanship.” Sinema gave the talk at the University of Louisville’s McConnell Center, where the institution’s eponymous ally described Sinema as the “the most effective first-term senator I’ve seen in my time in the Senate.”

It’s no shock that the Senate minority leader and the Arizona Democrat are cozy; Sinema’s greatest joys have included safeguarding the 60-vote threshold known as the filibuster and torpedoing her own party’s first-term agenda. But this latest chummy interaction did yield at least one surprise: a divulgence from longtime MSNBC personality Keith Olbermann, who claimed on Twitter that he dated the Arizona Senator for an unspecified length of time between 2010 and 2011 — and that Sinema, during that period, was a “legit progressive.”  Continue reading
