I totally disagree. The best VCs are weirdos who invest in weirdos. 
The best founders are weird. (eg. Zuck, Elon, Vitalik, Larry, etc..)
Do you think they get along with a 6’4” handsome guy who wears hair gel? Or a fellow weirdo?

Most real estate investment companies I know are just trying to kill it on any given single deal and take an exorbitant amount of risk. I’m  trying to build a legacy business hitting singles and doubles for decades and if the market gives us home runs so be it.

Great mindset, and reminds me of a funny story:
After I sold my first company, I had a pocket full of cash and wanted to invest some in real estate.
I met a guy who’s real estate fund was guaranteeing 8%+ returns, and he boasted how they usually beat that return. 
I was excited. 
I showed my rich friend the pitchdeck - hoping he’d be excited I brought him such a great opportunity. 
Rich Friend: Hm. No thanks
Me: why? Returns are great?
Rich Friend: Yea, too great. Probably taking too much risk. I want my real estate to be boring, predictable, 5-6% returns. 
Me: haha you prefer lower returns?
Rich Friend: He’s doing multi-family, not inventing flying cars. So if he thinks he can beat the normal returns, he’s taking extra risk. And he’s not saying that, so that means he’s either dumb or doesn’t care. Either way, no good.
Lesson learned!

Most people in media use the word "community" wrong.

Community: A place where similar interest people create, discuss, and consume content. Many to many.

An audience: You make content and people read/comment back. One to many.

You likely have an audience, not a community.

Agreed. 
Here’s the simple test if you have an “audience” or a “community”...Which way are the chairs facing?
At a concert, all the chairs face the stage. That’s an audience.
But at a community center (eg. alc anonymous) the chairs face each other. That’s a community.
Community is just a buzzword people hide behind to pretend like they’re doing something warm and fuzzy rather than trying to make a bunch of money or get famous.
