[Crew Review] Amazon offers new capital source for sellers

In trying to support small- and medium-sized businesses, Amazon is offering a new merchant cash advance program that allows sellers to scale fast with additional capital.

Is there a catch?

Amazon Top Terms

Here are the Amazon top keywords that jumped in popularity from October 16th to October 29th. Let’s uncover what happened on Amazon during the previous weeks!

The term "oil pulling for teeth and gums" has risen to the top 10 this week, taking slot #5. GuruNanda, on the other hand, is an aromatherapy oil-based mouthwash that comes in a concentrated formula packaged in a 2-oz glass bottle that holds 300 doses.

This product's sales have gone from only 196 units per day to 5,175 units per day in the last few days.

Exiting the Trillion-Dollar Club

Amazon recently closed at its lowest since April 2020, with stocks dropping to 5.9%. This is the first time the market cap has been below $1 trillion since then, and it’s partly because of inflation and partly because of its overoptimism during the pandemic.

This is yet another blow to the company which has just conducted a less-than-impressive Prime Day 2.0. Amazon has been expanding its facilities and adding more to its FBA system after it saw unprecedented growth during the lockdowns. But with more people going back to physical stores and cutting back on spending because of inflation, many warehouses have been put on hold or leased.

However, Amazon isn’t the only one in Big Tech suffering from these economic drawbacks. It might not be performing as well as it wants to, but it’s still just second to Meta, which dropped by 77.1% in market cap since its peak.

No More Hiding Behind the Curtain

The Seller Forums is where Amazon sellers get to ask and answer questions, seek clarity on simple or complicated issues, and overall interact with one another about all things Amazon. It’s now undergoing renovations, and sellers are not too happy about the changes.

Amazon announced that in the New Seller Forum Experience (NSFE), sellers’ business names —as found in their Seller Central account under the Global Accounts tab—will be displayed on their profile page. This exposes commenters’ identities, and let’s face it—you feel more comfortable when you’re posting anonymously. But aside from that, this business name reveal may limit what sellers disclose in their questions and answers and may effectively keep some of them away from the forums.

On the bright side, sellers are given the option to start fresh on NSFE, i.e., they can choose not to associate their new names with their old posts. So if you posted something you were not proud of before, you’re good.

However, there are still some unanswered questions regarding this change. For example, not all sellers have their account set up as a Global Account. What would their display names be then? A lot of sellers are still asking for clarifications, and some have emailed Amazon to not show their business names on the forums.

Optimized

There are a lot more potential customers looking for your product during the holidays, and it’s your listing’s job to make sure they find it.

You already know this: your listing has to have the right keywords to attract the right audience.

But how do you make sure you’re not leaving anything out?

We’ve discovered a new tool that makes the job much easier, and it’s already increasing our sales after just a few months. In fact, our numbers reveal that some of our products are already selling almost twice as much after implementing the changes.

The tool is called DataDive, and you can get a $50 lifetime discount on your monthly plan if you enter the code ECOMCREW upon checkout.
