[Crew Review] How a Republican-led House affects e-commerce

Amazon may be the king of online selling, but it’s still just renting space from the government. Whether you like politics or not, whoever is calling the shots will affect your business in one way or another.

How would e-commerce fare in the hands of Republicans?

Skip the Usual

You’ve probably made it a habit to delete webinar invites throughout the year, but hear us out.

This November 22 at 10 AM (PST), we’re bringing you a 45-minute public webinar about the latest and most advanced strategies that helped us increase our traffic and revenue to prepare multiple e-commerce brands for sale.

Sound too vague? Or familiar? Or boring?

Yeah, because it’s still all about scaling your business. But as the landscapes change, so should your plan of action. You’ve heard the usual business advice and tools that most of your competitors already know. Maybe it’s time to upgrade.

This webinar will be one of the most valuable ones we’re hosting so far—and certainly the best one for 2022.

Save your seat.

Chinese Counterfeits vs. Amazon

Somewhere in China, there are iShoes and Sunbucks Coffee.

A lot of trademark infringement goes unnoticed or is brushed off as a joke, especially in a country teeming with fake items. However, not everyone gets away with it.

Earlier this week, Amazon, with the help of law enforcement agencies, disrupted 3 counterfeiting operations in Guangdong and Jiangxi in China. They seized more than 240,000 counterfeit items, which included luxury items from brands like Lacoste and Under Armour.

The information that led to the disruption of these operations originated from Amazon’s Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU). According to their website, the CCU has identified, seized, and disposed of more than 3 million counterfeit products in 2021.

Amazon also acted against persons who illegally purchased government-issued identities and licenses to register fraudulent accounts. This resulted in the detention of 84 individuals.

We’re glad that the company is being more proactive about this problem. We’re looking forward to more similar news in the future.

Bye Bye Boeing

After doubling down on its logistics expansion during the pandemic, Amazon is not only shutting down some of its warehouses but also retiring a few of its Boeing 767s. Earlier in January 2021, the tech giant purchased 11 new Boeing aircraft to add to its Prime Air fleet.

It’s no secret that Amazon is struggling a bit in terms of finances. Bloomberg recently reported that it’s the first public company to lose $1 trillion in market value, and CEO Andy Jassy continues to cut costs where he can.

Inflation and the overall decline in online purchases after the lockdowns has certainly affected Amazon and Big Tech in general. On the bright side, it did, however, find other creative ways of using some of its warehouses.

ETC.

Not just a marketplace. There may be 19 Amazon marketplaces out there, but make no mistake about the company being a strong logistics behemoth. It has recently started to quietly offer its logistics network to 3P merchants in India.

Shopify in the Philippines. After laying off about 1,000 workers, Shopify is outsourcing many of its customer support roles to the Philippines.

Watch out for that Rivian. This holiday, you’ll be seeing more of Amazon’s custom electric delivery vehicles.
