Charlotte Burgess-Auburn holding a body-length manifesto for manifestos

A modern manifesto will allow you, as a citizen of the creative world, to navigate bravely.”

When Director of Community at the Stanford d.school Charlotte Burgess-Auburn was working with the graduate students and fellows at Stanford d.school, she found that a lot were struggling in the flux of transition between their “old career” and their “new plan.” That’s when she introduced them to personal manifestos. A personal manifesto is a compass for the present, not a roadmap to the future. It helps you remember what you believe so that when you are faced with choices and dilemmas in your life, you have something you can count on to help you navigate. In this excerpt from Burgess-Auburn’s book You Need a Manifesto, she shows how the exercise of creating your own manifesto can help you better know yourself, and work – and live – a little wiser every day. Learn how to create your own map for what matters.

🎒 Featured Fieldtrip: Craft your own creative manifesto! Join Charlotte Burgess-Auburn live on November 17 for her CreativeMornings FieldTrip and learn how to put your convictions to work.

Our final theme of 2022 is “Abundance," chosen by CreativeMornings/Santa Fe. What forms of abundance do you receive in your life? In what ways do you create abundance for others? What do you do to generate abundance where there is scarcity? Whether it’s a story, image, observation, song, poem, or other artifact, you can share your submissions in this form. We’ll feature a round-up in our Abundance issue at the end of the month!
