Hi there,

When asked how school is going, how many teens emphatically respond with, “Excellent! I’m challenged in all the right ways. I even feel seen”? If only. More than likely you’ll get the standard, “It’s fine. It’s school. What do you expect?”

Dissatisfaction with education is rampant. Shocking. The industry hasn’t changed much in over 100 years. Imagine if we drove cars from 100 years ago and wondered why they sputtered along and steered clear of the fast lane.

Listen, it’s not the school’s fault, but that doesn’t mean we have to settle.

The current system only exposes students to those in their neighborhood. There’s an entire world out there. Imagine if we broke open the walls of the schoolhouse and showed our teens how many like-minded people, their age, were at their fingertips.

In Write of Passage, I’ve spent four years teaching adults how writing online can alter their trajectory. If writing can do this for adults, it can absolutely do it for young people.
