Spotted in our community garden this week are reflections on COP27 from our bloomer Elisa 🌻

5 takeaways: ​
​
1. The massive venue made it harder for activists to track down and call out politicians and lobbyists (but they still succeeded).
​
2. Low-income and non-English speaking people were left out of the conference, unable to cover costs and to find avenues of dialogue with the institutions.
​
3. Female representation is still insufficient: only one female head of state was present and only 37% of negotiators were women.
​
4. Youth is slowly making it the decision making table (and strengthening international relations with TikTok choreographies from the negotiation rooms).
​
5. The outcome focuses more on addressing consequences (loss and damage fund) than underlying causes (phasing out fossil fuels).
