The Deleted Scenes - Towering Over the City
This is a neat building in Washington, D.C.: It’s known as the Apex Building, but it turns out not only is that nickname much newer than the building itself, but there was once a different nearby building first known as the Apex Building! Its history involves banks, liquor stores, and Sears, and the building dates to 1864. Its iconic towers were a later addition, however! I’ve seen the building before, and I could have guessed that it had some history, as most older urban buildings do. But the whole story is really neat. Read about it in Greater Greater Washington, where contributor Mark Eckenwiler details the whole thing with lots of pictures! This sort of history is interesting to me no matter where it is, but if you’re in or from the D.C. area, you might especially appreciate it. Related Reading: Thank you for reading!
