​Hi Bloomer! Congrats on graduating with such a cool degree! Unfortunately, your first job will likely not be as cool as your degree...you'll have to start at an entry level, adding value to an organization, and growing your experience. The good news is that this DOES NOT need to be unpaid work. Nor does it need to be in another field...it just needs to be general.
​
So what is a horizontal skill that you are interested in growing...something that is not industry specific, and can add value to an organization? UX design, social media strategy, and data analysis are some that come to mind (see 8 entry-level jobs).
​
And while you cannot offer experience, you can offer certain personality traits that people look for in entry-level positions such as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, being a good team player, and having the ability to figure things out. We all need to start somewhere.
​
So don't let the thought "I don't have enough experience" hold you back. Instead keep telling yourself "everyone has to start somewhere." Take notes during this difficult time and write down ideas for how you want to do things differently once you're further along in your career...who knows, this experience may even inspire you to create something that helps others!
