Did you know that some of our reporters are trained lawyers, scientists, philosophers, and epidemiologists? That level of expertise is one of the things that sets our work apart and, in 2022, has led to work that’s sparked conversation, made you feel smarter, and helped you chase what you’re curious about.

In the nearly three years since we launched the Vox Contributions program, more than 70,000 people have helped keep this work free with a gift to Vox, including more than 1,000 people during our end-of-year campaign. Will you join them?

Here are just a few examples from this past year of the kinds of work you’d be supporting with your gift:

• Today, Explained is now on 70 public radio stations across the US, drastically expanding the reach of their delightful daily explanations of what’s happening in the world.  
  
  
• Our video team brought trustworthy information to a whole new audience. Through YouTube shorts and TikTok, we’re helping a younger audience educate themselves on everything from the chart that explained the 2022 elections to our analysis of every 2022 World Cup penalty shootout. This is especially important on these platforms, where misinformation can run rampant.
  
  
• We explained the moment to millions of people, from a clear exploration of the context around the war in Ukraine to what the end of Roe says for the future of both Americans and the court. We explained how the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial really represented the Me Too backlash, how American conservatives turned against the vaccine, the biggest climate legislation the US has ever passed, and why it might seem like everyone you know is sick right now. 
  
  
• We helped people chase what they’re curious about. Why aren’t roller coaster loops circular? What are we actually hearing when we hear? Who made these mysterious circles in the Sahara? What did dinosaurs actually sound like? Sometimes, you just have questions about the world. And we love to give you answers. It helps us, and you, remember a sense of wonder and delight. 

This is just a tiny sample of the 2,500+ articles, 100 videos, and 650+ podcasts that we’ve published in 2022, for free. We offer this work without a paywall because we believe that everyone deserves to get answers to their questions about the world.
