Happy New Year from your Favorite Founder 🥂

Hey friends and family,

It's your favorite founder Joe Casanova in the building.

I wanted to start this letter off by wishing each and every one of you a very happy new year 🥂

We've come a long way since the pandemic when we started this community and I can reassure you we have a lot more to go 🚀

As I sit back and reflect on how far we've come I write this letter with gratitude for all the time you've all invested in each other and, more importantly, in yourself.

While building Furlough I try my best to operate with consistency and transparency.

That's why in this letter I wanted to show you the process I put together for setting up my goals for 2023 down to a daily level and even highlight some key goals that I believe we should all look forward to in this upcoming year.

This is all done by following the 7-step “Growth Mapping” process:

1. Identify your top-level statement for the year. For 2022 my top-level statement was Top Line Growth where we reinvested EVERYTHING back into what we're building.

For 2023 the top-level statement is Global Influence, Recognition, and Resources.

2. Choose your Power Words. For 2022 my words were Growth, Community, Action, Discipline, Focus, and Love.

In 2023, it's Gratitude, Growth, and Gangster because we're grateful for the growth we have and this really is some gangster shit to be a part of.

3. Identify your goals for each of your 7 pillars.

We have seven pillars in life, they are:

Career,
Finance,
Mental,
Physical,
Family,
Social,
Spiritual.

These are my annual goals for 2023 per each pillar. I've excluded family because we're in a great place and I know all I need to do is take my mom on her dream trip to Japan.

4. Break down those annual goals into quarterly milestones.

5. Break down those quarterly goals into monthly milestones.

6. Break down those monthly goals into weekly milestones.

7. Create habitual items that need to be done every day to set you up to succeed. Sharing my goals publicly like this is a challenge but that's where we grow outside of our comfort zone but let's leave my personal goals aside and really shine a light on what's so special coming to Furlough for 2023.

This process is extremely meticulous and time consuming but now coming into 2023 there is no need to plan and just take action.

Here's are a few goals to highlight:

1. The official partnership with L8tency making our flagship event which will be a live stream on FurloughTV.com. It'll be a combination of the storytelling from CoffeeZilla, the entertainment of Dr. DisRespect, and the professionalism of Shark Tank rolled into one.

2. The launch of the Furlough Media department which will activate our newsletter, social media channels, and blog as an extended resource to all our community members.

3. Upcoming partnership with a Web 3 company to support our efforts in building an identity layer for professionals on the blockchain. This will be integrated across the verticals of Furlough with a public leaderboard that will incentivize collaboration even further within the community.

4. The Startup Booster 2.0 makes a return with official sponsors, partnerships, rewards, and prizes for the startups that go through the program.

5. The official conversion of this community into the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

Our goal for this community has always been to decentralize and give ownership back to the people who make this place what it is. And much much more... but one specifically that I am very excited about is tapping back into our roots and going back to basics.

This community started by getting a bunch of young professionals together in a room, learning and collaborating together.

It's time we go back to where we started and as of the new year, I'll be hosting two masterminds every week on Mondays and Thursdays at 12 pm EST.

In this mastermind, we all come together and act as one. Alone you can be good but together we can be great so let's roll up our sleeves and collaborate in achieving our dreams together. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us.
