Performance

The World's Quickest Cars: Lucid Air Sapphire vs Bugatti Chiron vs Tesla Plaid 📹
The Lucid Air Sapphire has set a new record for the world's quickest-accelerating production car, with a quarter-mile time of 9.1 seconds at 156 mph. It outperformed the previous record holder, the Tesla Model S Plaid, which recorded a quarter-mile time of 9.3 seconds at 152 mph. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport recorded a quarter-mile time of 9.3 seconds at 156 mph, while the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 motorcycle recorded a quarter-mile time of 9.3 seconds at 157 mph. The Lucid Air Sapphire is now the acceleration king among production cars with four wheels, followed by the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport in second place.

UnpluggedTesla carbon fiber front diffuser for the Tesla Model S ðŸ“·
When it comes down to high-performance accessories for your Tesla, Unplugged Performance is a clear leader. This Carbon Fiber Front Diffuser is designed to improve performance for Model S owners. It reduces drag and adds downforce, but can also be used for daily driving with its removable carbon fiber Aero Pads. The pads protect the diffuser and can be replaced as they wear. It is designed for use with the Model S-APEX and all Model S models.

Energy & Charging

Tesla launches 'Tesla Electric' to become an electricity retailer
Tesla has recently expanded its portfolio of renewable energy solutions with the launch of Tesla Electric, an electricity retailer that utilizes its Powerwall infrastructure to manage excess electricity for residential customers. This expansion builds on the success of Tesla's virtual power plant (VPP) program, which utilizes a network of distributed energy storage systems to provide energy back to the grid and help stabilize it. The VPP helps avoid brownouts by drawing power from Powerwall systems enrolled in the program, while Tesla Electric is focused on maximizing profits for Powerwall owners by intelligently deciding when to use or sell excess electricity back to the grid. Currently, Tesla Electric is available to Powerwall owners in Texas, with plans to expand to other markets in the future.

New supercharger locations coming in 2023
After opening the selection of new Supercharger locations to public voting, Tesla has announced the winners: five new Superchargers in Europe, five in North America, and five in Asia, chosen after a few weeks of voting.

Submit in-app feedback to improve Supercharging 📷
If you experience any issues while Supercharging, you can now notify Tesla through the mobile app. To submit feedback, open the Tesla app, tap on your picture in the top right corner, select 'account', then choose 'charging' and 'history'.

FSD

The end of the nag?
Elon suggested that an update coming in January will give the option to remove the nag for people with a lot of experience using FSD Beta. Whole Mars Catalog suggested making this option available for those who have driven more than 10,000 miles with FSD Beta.

FSD Beta for all
As of December 31st, every vehicle in the USA and Canada, including those with MCU1, has access to or will receive FSD in their next software update. The FSD Beta version has now officially been merged with the production version, meaning there will no longer be different version numbers for FSD Beta versus non-FSD Beta.

FSD beta strikeout now results in a 2-week suspension 📷
The system is now attempting to be smarter about detecting cheating devices, however, it has been reported by many online that it sometimes makes mistakes. In version 10.69.25.1, rather than resulting in a permanent suspension, using a cheating device will result in a two-week suspension from the FSD Beta Program.

Under the hood

S3XY Winter Testing in New Zealand ðŸ“¹
Tesla recently released a video showcasing its winter testing in New Zealand. As the company stated, "When it's summer in the northern hemisphere, Tesla engineers follow the snow to Wanaka, New Zealand to continue their vehicle development year-round."

Semi 👀  ðŸ“·
Some new details about the Semi from Greentheonly:
  • The battery is rated at 1000 V.
  • The drive units are cooled with what Tesla calls "mega cooling" modules.
  • The axles are called Torque and Efficiency.
The tweets contain multiple images of the battery and other systems in the Semi.
🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • MCU - Media Control Unit
  • VPP - Virtual Powe Plant
