Main Street Insiders - Starve an Elite, Feed a Village
There are easily more than 100 million people in this country who value family, faith, and freedom - just like you. We call this group Main Streeters and together we can move mountains...if we work together. Why are some NFL teams better than others? If you lined up their rosters side-by-side and compared vital stats for each position, it would look the same. Average height and weight. Average 40-year dash. Average max on bench and squat. Physically, the teams are practically carbon copies of each other (with rare exceptions). Then, why do some teams consistently win and some consistently lose? Because one team . . .
Being the ChangeWe can apply this to our everyday lives in powerful ways that will save our country and any other country that chooses freedom. Why do we write about the elites so much? Is it to make you anxious or angry? No, that’s not our intention at all. When we talk about the CCP’s oppression, the WEF’s megalomania, and Amazon’s overconsumption doomsday machine, it’s simply to make you aware. As they say, admitting there’s a problem . . . Awareness can give you the motivation and urgency to change something. Unfortunately, that’s not enough. The Fogg Behavior model shows that motivation is just the starting point. You need to know that you can actually accomplish the change you seek. If it seems too hard, you’ll bail. And you need prompts to remind you to take action. Here’s what this looks like: If motivation, ability, and prompts are all in place, you’re likely to take action. We hope to give you all three today. A Compelling Vision of the FutureOn a related note, Tony Robbins believes that what holds people back from making change is that they never visualize a compelling future. But when they create a vision, they’re more likely to take action. The elites want to own the future and rent it back to you on their terms. The idea of “fighting back” against the elites can seem like a big, unwieldy, unrealistic task. So let’s simplify. Starting today, you can starve an elite and feed a village. Picture that. You can make Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook poorer while you help those in need. It’s worth doing, it’s easy to do, and the opportunities are all around. Teamwork Makes the DreamworkThe best thing about a high-performing team is that everyone has their own role. No single person has to do everything. The best teams put each member in the position that best suits their talents. We can starve the elites and feed a village using the same approach. Let’s use some Main Street Math to see what this could look like. One Less Apple A Day Keeps Hunger AwayApple sells over 200 million iPhones per year. The average iPhone owner upgrades their phone every two years. Average price of $800. Again, there are well over 100 million family, faith, and freedom folks in America (aka Main Streeters). What if only one million of us delayed an upgrade by a year or two. Just 1% of the team. That’s it. That takes $800 million out of Apple’s hands. Where could that money go? One of our favorite charities is World Vision (we have no relationship with them except as donors). One option is to buy a group of farm animals for a village. From World Vision:
These 28 animals cost $2,620. The money saved from a few Main Streeters delaying iPhone upgrades would buy 305,343 of these 28-animal packages. That’s a total of 8.5 million farm animals for the poorest people on earth. Subscribe and Save a LifeAbout 60% of US households have Amazon Prime subscriptions. Most of them on auto-renewal of course. And Amazon loves when you buy stuff using the Subscribe & Save feature because it drives mindless consumption. What if we flipped it? The average member of Prime spends $1,400 per year. What if 5 million Main Streeters with Prime subscriptions reduced their Amazon consumption by 15% each year? That would reduce Amazon’s revenue by $1 billion. What if we used that money to buy fruit trees for impoverished villages instead?
The money we pull from Amazon could buy 250 million fruit trees. Every year! Or it could be used to build water wells.
The money that Jeff Bezos would have used to build a new super yacht could build 16,000 wells and provide clean drinking water to almost 5 million people. This money could also fund Charity Water for 10 years and provide water for an additional 2 million people every year. Maybe you’re thinking, “It’s great to help those in other countries, but we have plenty of needy people right here in our own country.” You’re right. How about this idea?
That slice of money a few of us diverted from Amazon could feed 8 million poor US families for a week. All it takes is one out of every 20 people on our team spending 15% less on Amazon. Want to know the best part? This type of giving can be done using . . . wait for it . . . a subscription. Cut the Cord and Free a ChildNetflix has over 70 million subscribers in the US and Canada. Average cost is $120 per year. For that you get a heaping helping of unrated, depraved content served up through an addictive algorithm. This includes content cherished by child groomers (otherwise known as pedos). Hooray for Hollywood. What if 2 million Main Streeters cut the cord? There’s plenty of content available elsewhere. That’s $240 million sapped from the Hollywood groomer machine. In exchange, we could protect our kids in a big way. Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) was started by a former Navy SEAL and is one of the leading organizations fighting child exploitation and human trafficking. The money diverted from Netflix could fund OUR’s entire operation for almost five years. International Justice Mission also works globally to fight human trafficking. A slavery rescue operation costs $8,800 on average. From IJM:
The money we use to starve degenerate Netflix producers could fund 27,000 slavery rescue operations and potentially free over a million precious kids. Motivated + Able + Prompted = ActionAll of the Main Street Math examples are just examples. They are all impactful and doable. But we don’t need to feel limited. There are lots of ways to save money. There are lots of wonderful places that money could go to make a positive impact. Main Streeters don’t need to all do the same thing. One group might delay their phone upgrade. Another might commit to less spending. Another might cut the cord from a streaming service. The list goes on. The first step is taking the first step. For each person or family, the change to their lives will be almost imperceptible. Actually, it might be an improvement. Less time glued to that new phone. Less time glued to the TV. Less money spent on junk food. You get the picture. Whatever sacrifice we make individually is small and manageable. However, our cumulative impact is huge. World-changing-huge. This is the way. -Jeff and Luke |
