5 Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 193rd edition of Find That Pod.

It seems like the turbulence with Twitter continues. I'm starting to make plans to make a concerted push on another social platform for Find That Pod, but I'm hesitant to jump in on the Mastodon train - just doesn't seem like it will be the thing that replaces Twitter.

Does anyone have suggestions? Would you want to see recommendations via TikTok? Instagram? I'm all ears.

In any case, attention PODCASTERS and PODCAST PROMOTERS - we've got some more empty ad spots for this month:

Jan 20th - 2 featured podcast spots open
Jan 27th - 2 featured podcast spots open.

Remember that you not only get featured in the newsletter but also get a direct shout-out on Find That Pod's Twitter feed which is approaching 10,000 followers.

Lived Through That

Podcasts with a bit of a different twist tickle my toes. Alliteration aside, I was very happy to see this podcast place an ad because it truly has a unique format. It's more of a companion to a book where the author and host look at influential 90s musicians and where they are today. The show delves deeper into a single pivotal moment in the lives of some of the artists featured in the book. The stories they tell are open, honest, and inspiring. Even if you're not a major music fan, make sure to check this show out.

The Comics That We Love

I grew up with comic books. You know, back when the only option to get your hands on them was to walk into a store and buy a paper version of them. I still remember spending countless hours in the local comic store searching for new and awesome stories to read. Like most kids, I fell out of continuing my obsession with them as I grew older, but I've recently started to get back into them, this time in digital form.

So it's quite timely that this show came across my desk. Host Zach McCrary and his cadre of guests bring a great deal of fun and enthusiasm to the analysis of a new comic book storyline or graphic novel in each episode. So if you're at all a fan of any of the MCU movies, DC movies or remember having a fondness for comic books as a kid, this show is for you. Give it a listen!

Bad Bad Thing

When Jennair Gerardot suspects her husband, Mark, is having an affair with his dynamic and beautiful boss, Jennair begins secretly recording the new lovers. When Mark’s lies and deceit become too much to bear, Jennair begins recording herself as well, and then… she writes a suicide letter outlining a monstrous plan for vengeance.

This cautionary tale is told through Jennair’s actual recordings and with insight from esteemed clinical psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula, who helps unravel this true story of what can happen when powerful emotions like desire, betrayal and revenge take root in someone’s soul.

Millions of kids can't read well. Scientists have known for decades how children learn to read but many schools are ignoring the research. They buy teacher training and books that are rooted in a disproven idea. Emily Hanford investigates four authors and a publishing company that have made millions selling this idea.
