MIDDI - Forget the Fuss
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much. For many of us, the past few years have crystalized our priorities. We’ve redefined how we work and the ideal balance we strive for in our lives. Old habits were finally tossed aside and replaced with new, healthier practices. All in all, we decided what was worth the energy and time and what we no longer needed to invest in. As for me, I vowed to remove fussiness from my every day as much as possible. I’ll never be low maintenance, but I love to streamline things when I can for the sake of efficiency and practicality. The three products highlighted in this week’s edition allow you to cut unnecessary steps—and costs—from your routine without compromising on quality or style. Because life’s too short for fuss. 1. Typology Eyebrow & Lash Serum (£16.80) Ever since my dancing days, I’ve considered the daily application of false eyelashes to be such a faff. But my eyes have always been the facial feature I like to highlight the most. I originally bought this vegan serum from the French beauty brand Typology for my eyebrows but found I preferred it better on my eyelashes. And once I saw how much longer they were getting I decided to stick with it. The key ingredients are pea peptides and castor oil, which help to strengthen the lashes so they can keep on growing. I now skip the primer and get all the drama with mascara alone. 2. New Balance 327 Sneakers (£95 and up) White sneakers have been a popular wardrobe staple for a while now, but let’s face it, they get dirty. A beige pair provides the same versatility without needing to be polished quite so often. I got my first pair of New Balance sneakers way back in high school and I’ll always remember how comfortable they were. I like that the 327s have a sleeker, more modern style and bolder accents with a rubber sole that will help me avoid slipping and sliding in the rain. I can see myself wearing this pair with all sorts of bottoms, from mid-length dresses and skirts to jeans and dresses. 3. Contempee White Faux Blossom (3 stems for £24.99) I love them, but flowers are fussy with a capital “F.” They’re expensive, can cause allergic reactions and oh yeah, they die. This is why I like faux plants and flowers—if chosen correctly, they can add a burst of color and freshness to your home without the extra cost and maintenance. Because my mantle is narrow, I knew I wanted a branch of some sort to give the space some dimension without sticking out into the room too much. These blossoms (available in three other shades of pink) from Contempee look so lifelike in person that you’ll want to sniff them. Something to think about … There has never been a better time to shop secondhand. See how the luxury resale market has changed and find out which sites to check out for a deal (including one of my all-time favorites) in this article from Vogue Business.
