"Notes" of An Elder is a depository of pertinent information, knowledge and wisdom. Available weekly will be an elder's "thinking menu" for your use. Enjoy this bounty.

Love those who will love you when you have nothing to offer but your friendship.
Life is very simple, but keeping it that way is very difficult.
You must be visible. You can't expect people to trust you if they don't know you are there. They can't trust what they don't know.
Get in touch with gratitude. Express thanks for who you are and what you have.
Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend.
Trust is simply a bet; like all bets, it contains an element of risk.

Don't bother telling people what you want. Instead, focus on what they want.
Learning comes down to repetition and connecting new information to existing information.

Everyone gets the same number of minutes in an hour. What you do with them and how you invest them will ultimately determine what you'll get out of all the hours in your life.
The biggest obstacle in performances isn't knowing what to do. It's not doing what you know.
You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.
Focus on what's good in your life instead of what's not.
Welcoming dissenting viewpoints and opinions lead to sustainable growth.
