Most projects in the impact sector start with a Needs Analysis – so let me start with the question: what do you need to financially sustain your own life? How much do you need to be making so that you can live your life without worrying about finances? Write a number down. Without any shame or guilt, write a number down. Because if you are not financially sustainable, then you cannot help others. Capitalism likes to make us think that we always need more-- but instead I would encourage you to live from a place of "enough". Enough money that you don't have to struggle. Enough money so that you aren't stressed about making ends meet. Knowing how much is enough can be so liberating. You shared "I create amazing impact and people generally love working with me" -- so it is clear that you are creating value. Money is an exchange of value. Nothing more. If you are creating value for them, you shouldn't hesitate to ask that they also create value for you. Just enough value.
