The competencies cancer survivors cultivated through this hardship, they're not disabilities, not liabilities, they're super abilities.”

Eason Yang is Not Entirely Dead. Or at least that’s how he translates the acronym NED (“no evidence of disease”) that’s assigned to cancer survivors. He weaves that same irreverence and dark humor throughout his talk for CreativeMornings/Seattle, where he discusses fighting for his life against cancer, only to be told by prospective employers that his best years were now behind him. That ran directly counter to what he knew about himself and other survivors — their hard-won competitiveness, grit, and tenacity. Not Entirely Dead became Yang’s award-winning project to help cancer survivors fight the “damaged goods” stigma in the workplace, fill employment gaps, and create inclusive career pathways. Listen to Eason Yang’s epic comeback story and stand in awe at his question, “Who are the lucky bastards who get to hire us?”
