How to make 30% of people do what you want
In 1974, Phillip Kunz a sociologist at Brigham Young University decided to do an interesting experiment.
He picked out addresses of 600 total strangers.
And then sent them Christmas greetings: handwritten notes or a card with a photo of him and his family.
Result:
Kunz got more than 200 replies.
He was surprised by the number of letters that were written. Some of them 3-4 pages long.
Why?
Because of the rule of reciprocation that is drilled into us as children:
We are subconsciously obligated to give back to others in the form of behavior that they have first given to us.
Want 30% of people do what you want?
Bring them value first. Just like that.
Without asking anything in return.
P.S. For 15 years Kunz got cards from the people he contacted in 1974
