Good morning.

Today we’re listening to Aarktica, a guitarist and ambient composer from New Jersey now based in Los Angeles. In the late ‘90s he enrolled at NYU to study music, and while studying there he lost hearing in his right ear.¹ The experience redirected him toward ambient music, and he inaugurated the Aarktica project with the 2001 record No Solace In Sleep. His music is atmospheric and led by guitars, whose strums heavily reverberate and fill out the headspace. We’re also playing his latest record, Paeans, which just came out in May.
