At 15 he was wowed by the fast-paced pluckings of bluegrass duo Flatt & Scruggs.¹ Going on fifty years, Fleck has earned renown as a world-class banjo player, collaborating with other virtuosos in jazz (Chick Corea) and contemporary (Joshua Bell). We’re playing his new album from May, As We Speak, genre-bending recordings with Zakir Hussain (tabla), Edgar Meyer (bass), and Rakesh Chaurasia (bansuri). We’re also playing Fleck’s Bluegrass Sessions Vol. 2 record from 1999, which is more of a down home bluegrass collection.
