⚡ Withdraw Idle USDC From Deprecated GMI Pool

BanklessDAO has approximately 2,300 USDC in a deprecated Index Coop contract. This vote seeks authorization to withdraw these funds and deposit them into the bDAO Vault multisig.

💬 Delegate Snapshot Proposal Rights to Governance Dept

This proposal seeks to grant the Governance Department of BanklessDAO rights concurrent with the BanklessDAO Vault mutisig signers to post proposals on the DAO’s Snapshot. These rights would be delegated from the BanklessDAO Vault multisig, whose signers would retain ultimate authority to delete any proposals submitted by the Governance Department.

Hands-On Learning for Optimistic Hearts

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, DeFi technology holds immense potential to open access to financial systems. Yet the majority of the world’s population has very little knowledge of web3, let alone DeFi. To combat this issue, the Optimism Collective has emerged with a compelling Vision to compensate for contributions which grow the shared Ethereum and Optimism ecosystem through retroactive public goods funding.

At the heart of this Vision lies the principle of ‘Impact = Profit’, which pushes back at the idea that effort towards public goods need be purely altruistic. Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RPGF) ensures that people and teams who work towards positive change can be rewarded. As more people use and benefit from the technology, more funding is available for those who improve the experience and opportunities, a truly positive cycle of growth.

One way to take the Optimistic Vision global and help promote crypto literacy is to run in-person events. Just as we wrote in last week's editorial about the inaugural ChippiCon, IRL events play a vital role in bringing a community together around shared values. Such gatherings are also a great opportunity for people new to web3 to see first hand how the technology works and what a difference it can make to financial accessibility and self-sovereignty.

Community Connections

Hackathons, conferences, and seminars serve to create connections. The Accruing Value via RPGF3 proposal references two types of events which could be successful vehicles for hands-on learning about blockchain: on-ground social impact events, and workshops and lectures in university campuses. To achieve diversity and inclusion for the Optimistic Vision worldwide, these events must be held in countries with low web3 literacy, such as those in Africa.

Attendee incentives such as getting assistance with creating a web3 wallet and seeing a demonstration of transactions on Optimism’s Layer 2 network can further fuel interest and participation, as can the offer of some BANK to get started with. Such incentives have proven effective in attracting audiences, and it's something I can personally vouch for as an African who loves events with added rewards.

As a leader in onboarding people into web3, BanklessDAO is in a prime position to spearhead the spread of the Optimistic Vision. Beyond education, such events are potent catalysts for community growth and development, aligning perfectly with BanklessDAO's mission.

A Well-Lit Ecosystem

Accruing Value via RPGF3 seeks 4 million BANK to fund various worldwide IRL initiatives, a proposal that recently passed Forum quorum requirements and appears to be headed to Snapshot for approval. While funding and holding numerous events may seem ambitious, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Not only do these events have the potential to attract new members and contributors to BanklessDAO — a worthy goal; our efforts to share the Optimistic Vision could also strengthen our eligibility for RPGF.

As Mary Anne Radmacher's wisdom echoes:

Keep a light on for the forthcoming Snapshot vote on the Accruing Value via RPGF3. Although voting on the Forum proposal has been closed, it’s not too late to add your thoughts to the mix.

Season 9 is upon us and here is a quick update of what’s to come:

• July 22: Seasonal funding requests due.

• July 30: Draft 1 of the Season 9 Specification to be posted to the Forum.

• August 20: The Season 9 Specification and budget will be posted to Snapshot.

• August 27: Last day of Season 8.

• Gap Week: Monday, August 28 - Sunday, September 3 (1 week).
