How has consumer behavior on Amazon changed in the past year? 

Understanding consumer behavior is one of the more challenging aspects in the ecommerce industry. If you fail to keep up with the changes, your business will falter. 

In this year’s edition of EcomCrew’s consumer report, we were able to gather interesting insights on what third-party sellers need to know about their customers to tailor their listings for maximum profit. This year’s report also compares our results from the previous study to show how much customers’ preferences have changed over the year.

Here’s a sneak peek to some of the key insights we’ve uncovered:

  • Consumers refrain from buying products on Amazon due to authenticity. 61% of respondents said they have doubts about buying a product because of its authenticity.
  • Honesty is the best policy. 81.03% of respondents said they don’t lie in order to avoid paying the return shipping on a product.
  • Good price and fast shipping matter most to buyers. 37.95% and 35.38% preferred prices and fast shipping respectively as their biggest factors before making a purchase on Amazon. 
  • Amazon is the top search engine to search for products. 50% of consumers said they search for a product first on Amazon, beating both Google and Walmart.
