Design Hunting - Introducing the Strategist’s Gift Scout

Every holiday season for the last seven years, our team of writers and editors has delighted in the challenge of finding the perfect presents for the most difficult-to-please people in your lives. That’s why we’ve got gift guides for every type of person — including moms and dads, grandparents and kids of all ages, even K-pop stans and outdoorsy types. We’ve even asked you, our readers, to share the most confounding people on your shopping list and found options for your angsty Gen-Z tattoo-artist cousin who is into astrology, your ex who might not be an ex, and your 76-year-old uncle who is a priest. But as much as we love the hunt, we unfortunately can’t help every single person who has reached out to us find that one-of-a-kind, surefire gift.

That’s why we’ve been developing a new tool called the Gift Scout, and we’d love to give you, a loyal Strategist reader, early access to help us test it out. All you have to do is type in the hard-to-shop-for person on your holiday list — whether it’s your mother who doesn’t want anything, your son’s godfather who likes tech, your boss with perfect hair, or your sister-in-law who doesn’t like clutter — and the Gift Scout will scan through all of the products we’ve written about and spurt out some (hopefully!) relevant suggestions. This is still a work in progress, so not all of the recommendations will be perfect, but every single product that you’ll see is something that we’ve written about, so you can at least be confident that your gift has the Strategist seal of approval.
