Henrik Karlsson makes an astoundingly convincing claim: a blog post is really just a search query for finding your fellow nerds. You put your thoughts out there, and the internet —a series of tubes, of course— connects the right people with it over time.

Using tech terminology to describe the human connection established by tech is a wonderful turn of phrase. The internet isn’t just the great leveler (as it gives us all a voice), but it’s also the great automated switching board, connecting those voices with the ears that need to hear them. Once again, someone describes Building in Public in terms that expand and clarify its impact. I love this. You write not just to publish. You write to be read by the right people. And like never before, the internet facilitates that. There has never been a better time to share your thoughts and expertise.

One thing that really stood out to me this week was the OpenAI keynote. Not just for the custom "GPTs" and GPT-4 Turbo, but for how it shook up the indie developer scene. Ben Thompson took a look at the keynote, and it's absolutely worth the read.

What blew me away was how it compared to the Apple event from last week. Apple's product launches are always full of intriguing new things. New processors, new quality-of-life improvements, and the occasional quantum leap. But this OpenAI keynote blew Apple out of the water in terms of how our founder community responded. Not only did OpenAI shake quite a few things up, but people are shipping! So cool to see a tech event that energizes our community. A keynote that actually gets people building.
