Growing up, her family moved around between the United States, India, and the United Kingdom.¹ She DJ’d in the DC warehouse scene, where she gained fluency in techno and breakbeat, before relocating to New York City. Her debut LP, Rhythm is Memory, came out earlier this month. It’s full of hard-charging percussion, tight-looped samples, and sawtooth synth waves. Somehow the Financial Times beat us to this record. We’re also playing Ayesha’s 2021 EP, Potential Energy, which plays the same style.
