As we reflect on 2023, today we’re sliding into your inbox to simply say, thank you.

The GIST started as an idea between three 20-something friends about how to shake up the male-dominated sports space. Six years, 40 employees, and over 1.3M GISTers later, it’s clear that making space for everyone in the sports conversation has made an impact, and it wouldn’t be possible without you.

It’s also been an incredible year for the games we love:

• 🏀 Women’s March Madness drew record-setting eyeballs
• ⚽ The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup put world-class footballers center stage
• 🎓🏐 NCAA women’s volleyball broke the international women’s sports attendance record
• 👋 Soccer greats retired at the top of their game
• ⚽⚾ Men dominated the pitch and the diamond
• 🤸Simone Biles became the literal GOAT of both gymnastics and mental health advocacy

And there’s even more excitement to come in 2024. From the puck dropping on the inaugural PWHL season tomorrow to the 2024 Paris Olympics to the addition of two new squads to the NWSL, it’s going to be a banner year.
