Niche Twins - Our greatest weakness
I've personally been working on Stay New England since June of last year.
Yesterday I hit publish on post number 14.
14 posts...total.
Does that surprise you?
That's about 1 post published every 2 weeks.
I did something similar with my first niche site that went on to earn over 7 figures in profit.
I published 45 total posts during the first 18 months.
Again, that's about 1 post published every 2 weeks.
Assuming my average post is about 1250 words long, that's just 90 words a day.
You could write 90 words a day, couldn't you?
For reference, this is the 100th word of this intro.
Seems incredibly achievable.
Yet most don't / won't.
Why?
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. Failure at some point in your life is inevitable, but giving up is unforgivable."
Any amount of "success" I've had up to this point I attribute almost entirely to never fully giving up.
I could have packed it in at any point during those first 18 months of my first ever niche site (and nearly did on more than one occasion).
But the key word there is "nearly".
Yes there was some skill.
Yes there was some luck.
But had I quit, no amount of skill or luck would have saved me.
You hear stories like this all the time.
My favorite is of Joanne Kathleen Rowling, better known as J.K. Rowling.
J.K. Rowling was a jobless, single mother who was so poor that she couldn't afford a computer.
She wrote the first Harry Potter novel with pen and paper (skill), then eventually a typewriter.
She sent that draft to 12 separate publishers.
And all 12 turned her down.
She was depressed, even suicidal at times.
But she never fully gave up.
"I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."
Eventually a publisher gave her a second chance because of an eight year old girl who absolutely fell in love with the book. That little girl happened to be the CEO’s daughter! (luck)
J.K. Rowlings books have gone on to sell more than 500 MILLION copies.
She's won countless awards and her books were eventually made into one of the most successful movie series ever.
Today, J.K. Rowling is worth over a billion dollars.
That's billion, with a B.
Your ability to continue, to persist, to never fully give up is likely the only thing standing between you and a win.
And getting your first win is EVERYTHING.
Because then you don't need me, or anyone else to tell you "it's possible".
You'll know it's possible, because you've done it.
And that'll be enough to sustain you until your next win.
And then your next.
I'm not suggesting you follow my approach of just 1 post every 2 weeks.
If you can do more, do more.
But DO IT! Do the work.
Stop over thinking it. Stop talking about it.
Just get started, and make a decision to never stop.
You'll have to make adjustments along the way. That's OK.
Make 2024 the year you look back on as the year that changed everything.
Have a great weekend.
