Flow State - Polygonia
Flow State recommends instrumental albums from an interesting artist every weekday. To support our work and unlock extra features, become a subscriber: Good morning. It’s Friday so we’re listening to something more upbeat. Today we’re listening to Polygonia, an electronic music producer based in Munich. Thanks to Philip Sherburne for surfacing her “oddball techno” via his Futurism Restated playlists. Polygonia is prolific: since 2019 she’s released five LPs, thirteen EPs, and many singles. She uses techno templates (steady kicks, heavy bass) and gradually overlays lifelike synths and organic samples. “The connection of electronic music to nature feels very natural to me,” she told Truants, “because it is possible with pure synthesis to imitate in principle any natural sound with the simplest means like noise or sine tones. I also find it very exciting when both worlds intertwine, when you no longer know what is real and what is not.” We’re playing three EPs: Deformed Human Nature from 2021, Bloom from 2022, and Tales of the Nocturnal Sky from 2023. Deformed Human Nature - Polygonia (50m, micro vocal samples, and whispers on track 3) Bloom - Polygonia (30m, backing vocals) Tales of the Nocturnal Sky - Polygonia (30m, no vocals) Have an awesome weekend. |
