Niche Site Lady - Look in my drawers

I know, it's not Tuesday!

But this one couldn't wait.

If you've been reading my email for a while, you'll know that I am, by nature, a pretty disorganised person.

Here's a photo of my sock drawer to demonstrate...

This personality type isn't ideal when you have to ferry your kids to seven different extra-curricular activities at the right place and the right time.

And it really isn't ideal when you're trying to run seven different websites and manage a team.

I've cried because I couldn't cope with the stress.

More times than I can count .

But, over the years, I've gotten more and more organised.

I've had to.

I'll never be the best at it,

Just as someone with one leg shorter than the other will never be the best at running.

But with practice, I'm getting there.

One thing I've learned is that systems are everything.

For a long time, I had a mess of Google docs, sheets and emails.

I was forever looking for things.

Then back in July, I tweeted asking for help.

You guys were SO helpful.

People recommended all kinds of systems, like Notion, Trello, Clickup, Monday, Airtable, Basecamp, Asana, Plaky and Podio.

Cue - Massive overwhelm.

I tried several of the tools.

But me trying to build a system in one of them was like asking a blind person to empty the dishwasher in a stranger's house.

It just wasn't my skill set.

Eventually, I cobbled something together with Trello, and it's not bad.

But I still had a ton of Google docs and sheets all over the place.

And I still start things from scratch that I really should have templates for.

But then yesterday - game changer - I bought the Content Conveyor Belt.
