It's All About Pace and Patience

A dynamic scene on a paved road with two people one riding a bike and the other running alongside.

Business, especially in the digital marketing space, is a lot like running or riding a bike. It has a lot to do with pace and patience.

Let me explain. If you're not committed and consistent with your digital marketing and you're all scattered then your post and the power of the message is diminished. Having a consistent pace is key. Also being patient with the reality that converting readers, listeners, social media connections into business takes time.

Here's an example. Those who listen to my podcast Entrepreneur's Enigma will notice that I'm changing the pace of how many times a week it comes out. Instead of twice (Tuesdays and Thursdays), it's only coming out Tuesdays. It has to do with the pace of which it's coming out.

I noticed that the Thursday shows were getting less promotion and less traction and were causing me more stress than if I paced everything down to once a week (on Tuesdays).

So that's pace, what about patience? Well the main goal of Entrepreneur's Enigma is to generate conversations with high level entrepreneurs and decision makers who might want to do business with my agency, Goldstein Media.

It is a game of patience. You have the person on the show. You have a great conversation. Most times the guest asks what I do full time and that's where I tell them about Goldstein Media. I don't pitch them, just tell them about it. I make sure we connect on social media and stay in touch.

When the podcast comes out, I have a second reason to reach out and connect.

It's a waiting game. Has patience paid off? A little. In 200+ episodes I've had 5 or 6 good conversations about working with my guests and one so far has converted into a nice ongoing project.

With the patience, you have to realize you got to enjoy the outreach and connection as much as getting the business, because often patience is a long game.

What do you think? Hit reply and let me know.

An Interview With WordPress Co-Founder Matt Mullenweg on WP Tonic

WP-Tonic
We Interview Matt Mullenweg, Co-founder of WordPress & CEO of Automattic

I generally like Matt. I think he is in a tough situation, that he's the figurehead, for better or worse for the WordPress project. If the guy says one wrong thing everyone jumps on him. Though sometimes just apologizing works and sometimes he doubles down. Hey, no one is perfect. This is a great interview. And what's more, Matt's about to go on sabbatical for a few months. Lucky guy!
