Who is the guy.. or Wizard.. behind Better Sheets?

Hi, I'm Andrew!

Basically I've been using spreadsheets and coding in sheets for over 10 years. I was doing stuff with spreadsheets nobody else ever thought of. For 5 years I worked at a startup as "Director of Digital Operations" and that meant I made the Google Sheets.

But not just any Google Sheets. We created an immense integrated workflow pipeline. Included managing the outreach to 15,000 youtube channels. And managed the licensing of 150,000 youtube videos (that we could broadcast). Included even delivering to a 24/7 broadcast facility the final schedule. I also built a payment reporting pipeline. This tracked every single thing played on a broadcast channel. And could create invoices for individual creators every month.

I'm estimating that the entire suite of sheets I built would roughly cost $3 million if we created custom software. That's including a couple of software engineers, front end dev, and a designer or ui/ux. We didn't need ui/ux or design because it was all google sheets. Everyone in the office knew how to use Google Sheets. I coded everything in Apps Script. Which is roughly just javascript. No CSS. No HTML.

And I iterated on these sheets in the office all day, with the roughly 30 other employees. We didn't need any product managers because I just sat behind everyone and watched how they used the sheets. Improved the sheets so it would be intuitive, and also gave very short instructions in the office on how to use it and how to fix things when it broke.

What's Next?

You might be asking about the next thing I'm putting out on Better sheets. And to be honest I have a TON of ideas. I put out individual tutorials all the time. This week I was working on showing you advanced features of checkboxes. Yes, checkboxes.

I'm still doing interviews and updates to Selling Spreadsheets course.

I'm also working on tutorials that will show some cool stuff I learned while building the most powerful CRM I've ever built inside of sheets. This was client work so I can't show you exactly the code. But I can share with you some cool integrations I learned how to do like Google Tasks and Writing Personalized Emails in sheets (and sending them!)

I'm working on improving the Template Gallery. It's going to take a while because I'm going to be individually reviewing sheets. This might be a huge boon for members as I will share insights into how some viral sheets are made. You might go viral too on Tiktok if you follow some tutorials.
