Word Of The Week: Automaticity

I have another newsletter dedicated to self-development and productivity, which is called Self Development Snack.

While doing research for that one, I came across the idea of automaticity which I thought applies to you guys as well.

Automaticity is the ability to do tasks with ease. After a bunch of repetition, your brain begins to take tasks that were once deemed hard and makes them part of your subconscious—this way those tasks could be done almost on autopilot (or flow state).

To get to the point of automaticity, you must focus on ONE goal at a time.

This could be extremely difficult in today’s day in age because there are so many side hustle ideas out there.

This doesn’t mean you could only do one side hustle. This means you should focus on one at a time, until the point of automaticity, and then move on to something new (if needed).

So, if you’re one of those people balancing many new projects at once, take a step back and figure out which one you want to get down pat first.
