Here’s a reader-submitted question from last week: Is it correct to assume the $1,200 per adult and $500 per child from the relief package will be taxable income at both the federal and state levels?

Answer: No. These checks — also called “economic impact payments” and “recovery rebates” — are not taxable income, according to the Tax Foundation. In fact, they’re refundable tax credits.
