Before we get into the newsletter today, two shout-outs:

1) To the team at Really Good Emails, which launched a decade ago to catalog excellence in newsletter design. Anytime I’m looking for design inspiration, RGE is my first stop. This week, the RGE team announced they’re selling the site to design platform Beefree. (The press release announcing the RGE sale was delightfully on-brand for them.) Congrats to RGE!

2) To frequent Inbox Collective collaborator Evelyn Crowley, who helped build a newsletter called Prism that just won a Webby. Congrats, Evelyn (and the rest of the Prism team)!

How Poynter Transformed A Hands-On Workshop Into an Email Course

You might be familiar with the idea of Courses: They’re those on-demand series of newsletters that help teach readers a new skill, habit, or lesson. Back in the day at BuzzFeed, we launched all sorts of these, like the 7-Day Better Skin Challenge and our Couch to 5k program. They always had great engagement — and also drove new sign-ups. It’s been fun to see other news organizations launch these, too.

This week, Poynter’s Kristen Hare and Mel Grau detailed how they built their first course, an adaptation of their popular in-person Work-Life Chemistry workshop, and turned it into a six-part Course costing $50. Inside this article, they walked through how they designed it to guide readers through the Course and what they learned from launching it.

Sure, you might have heard of an abandoned cart series for an ecommerce company. But what about one for people who don’t complete the process of subscribing or donating? (BlueLena)

I’m always interested in how orgs measure things, so this story about how The 19th blended newsletter engagement into a new metric callled “total journalism reach” caught my eye. (CJR)
