Welcome to the April issue of the React Native Newsletter!

In this issue, we're covering the latest React Native news from March and April. There are exciting Beta releases of Expo SDK 51 and React 19 to check out, plus the major story for this month: the release of React Native 0.74, which makes New Architecture Bridgeless mode a default. Take a moment to watch Theo's video about the new architecture to prepare for exciting React Native improvements headed your way!

Expo SDK 51 beta is now available

The SDK 51 beta period began on April 24 and will last approximately one week

React 19 Beta

This is a pretty big release with a lot of new hooks becoming stable.

  • useActionState: Simplifies managing async actions with built-in handling for states and errors.
  • useFormStatus: Accesses the status of a form within its component without prop drilling.
  • useOptimistic: Allows for optimistic updates to UI elements while async operations are pending.
  • use: Enables direct reading of resources like promises in render, improving the handling of async data.
  • Server components + actions are becoming stable as well
