These three app developers listed one of their products on a marketplace, which led to an unexpected outcome: the acquisition of a set of apps they hadn’t intended to sell.

Sam Henning, Steve Jones and Alex Dover, the co-founders of UK-based Union Works, intended to sell two of their smaller Shopify apps.

Instead, they ended up with a deal to sell their larger Shopify apps: Order Tagger and Customer Tagger.

The buyer was Shop Circle, an e-commerce software company based in London. This 7-figure deal was a 3-4x ARR multiple.

Behind the business (of TGA)

A few weeks ago, I took a day off for a long hike with friends.

We started at our house, walked 23 miles along the Appalachian Trail, and ended at a brewery with a beautiful view.

It was a challenging walk, with 4,400 feet of ascent, and lots of rocks. I've done this hike before, and it always brings moments of difficulty, when the aches and pains and fatigue kick in.

But I enjoy pushing myself in this way, because it reminds me that I Can Do Hard Things. The confidence it creates bubbles over into other parts of life, including my work.

Doing Hard Things gives me reps at trusting myself and trusting the process. It offers proof that even small steps in the right direction add up.

When in doubt, we just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
