Communication and Feedback | BanklessDAO Weekly Rollup
Communication and Feedback | BanklessDAO Weekly RollupCatch Up With What Happened This Week in BanklessDAODear Bankless Nation 🏴, We are still in our community's reorganization and purpose-finding phase, and the Transition Council has not taken its foot off the pedal. One big update this week is that the multisig has completed all transactions to allocate a percentage of the community treasury into yield-bearing protocols, Aave and Lido. This investment is already generating yield, which will be used to cover recurring costs and help the DAO run even smoother. Regarding the Transition Council, significant pruning is expected on our Discord server. Guilds, departments, and likely projects will undergo a reorganization of their categories. Look forward to a much cleaner discord. The discussion about purpose continued in the community call, focusing on creating spaces for freedom seekers who can drive change. Many ideas were shared and debated. How do we achieve this? What does "freedom" mean to you? This and more capture this week’s editorial. If you have ideas on how to approach this, share them in the Forum. You can also create forum posts on issues that can move the community forward. As we progress, the goal is to be pioneers of positive change and growth. So, get involved and let your ideas be heard. Have a great weekend, frens. Proposals in DiscussionCommunication and FeedbackAuthor: Boluwatife Image: Tonytad In a recent community call that saw enthusiastic participation, it became evident that there's a significant communication gap within the DAO. The vibrant discussion, with numerous voices contributing from the stage, highlighted the community's engagement and the underlying issues. Despite the active dialogue, it has been noted that there's a palpable uncertainty about whether communication within the DAO is truly effective. The Transition Council, in particular, expressed concerns that the apparent lack of clear communication might be painting a different picture than intended, leaving them unsure if they're steering the organization in the right direction. Recognizing the importance of member input, the transition council is actively seeking feedback. They emphasized that their autonomous status doesn't mean they're closing themselves off to community insights. On the contrary, they're committed to building an organization that aligns with everyone's vision. To this end, they've encouraged members to voice any concerns or suggestions through forums or other available channels, underscoring the critical role of feedback in shaping the DAO's future. Sustainability: The Cornerstone of Organizational SuccessThe discussion then shifted to the fundamental elements required for the DAO's long-term sustainability. A key point raised was the need for guilds and departments to return funds to the DAO, ensuring financial accountability and resource optimization. Additionally, there was a call for members to deeply understand and commit to the concept of sustainability, not just in financial terms but also in terms of long-term engagement and dedication to the organization's goals. While grants were acknowledged as a viable short-term funding solution, particularly for non-profit initiatives, the conversation emphasized the importance of diversifying funding sources for long-term stability. The community expressed a collective intention to expand its scope and impact, viewing this growth as integral to achieving sustainable success. However, this ambition was associated with the necessary need to implement cost control measures, striking a balance between expansion and financial prudence. Defining Our Community's PurposeIn response to ongoing discussions about the DAO's direction and purpose, a thoughtful proposal emerged on the community forum. The proposal suggests that the community's core purpose should be "to make community spaces for freedom-seeking changemakers." This concise statement sparked a wide range of reactions and thought processes across the community about how members viewed the community. The author emphasized the need for a simple, achievable, and evergreen purpose, believing that the proposed statement encapsulates these qualities effectively. This approach aims to provide a clear, enduring direction that can guide the community through various stages of growth and change. Reflecting on the DAO's value, the author highlights that its true strength lies not in its tangible outputs, but in its ability to bring together like-minded individuals. The term "community spaces" was chosen to emphasize this aspect, highlighting the DAO's role as a nexus for connection and collaboration. The proposal thoughtfully addresses the evolution of terminology used to describe the DAO's members. Previously referred to as "self-sovereign," the author suggests a shift to "freedom-seeking" to broaden inclusivity. This change aims to welcome those who aspire to self-sovereignty but may not yet fully embody it, fostering a more inclusive and supportive community environment. Lastly, the author emphasizes the importance of action and impact, choosing the term "changemakers" to describe the community's ideal members. This term encapsulates the desire to attract proactive individuals who are driven to create positive change, aligning with the DAO's ethos of innovation and progress. If you haven't seen the proposal yet, check it out here and make sure to drop your feedback. ⛴️ BanklessDAO Content🧠 Crypto SapiensThanks, thinkDecade! |
