Next year marks the Noguchi Museum’s 40th year in operation, and even though we’re now decades past the artist and designer’s death, his legacy looms large. His Akari light—which is still produced by its original manufacturer, even after all this time—has been called "the most ubiquitous sculpture on the planet." By all appearances, it’s true: It doesn’t take much digging to spot them dotted across AD’s home tours (Troye Sivan has one, as do Inez and Vinoodh—and this romp through the archive features Akaris aplenty), and our own in-house design historian Hannah Martin has penned an ode to them in her "Having a Moment" column.

Still, there are discoveries to be found: these cheerful, colorful Noguchi lights that cropped up last spring are worth scoping out, and the Noguchi Museum has just opened a new exhibition, Against Time, of 60 archived Noguchi creations.
