5-Bullet Friday

Hi All!

Here is your weekly dose of “5-Bullet Friday,” a list of what I’m enjoying or pondering. It’s being sent out late after a busy week, so enjoy a special edition of “6-Bullet Saturday”!

What I’m reading —
Survey of entity encounter experiences occasioned by inhaled N,N-dimethyltryptamine: Phenomenology, interpretation, and enduring effects. Here’s one notable line: “More than half of those who identified as atheist before the experience no longer identified as atheist afterwards.”

Tech fix that saved me —
After experiencing a super-frustrating low-volume issue on my new MacBook, reader HP (@harr15on_) and others kindly suggested this NVRAM/PRAM reset fix, which did the trick. Many thanks!

Completely ridiculous page I’ve kept in an open tab all week —
30 Animals That Look Like They’re About to Drop the Hottest Albums of the Year.
For when you just need a break from the doom and gloom...

Another tool I’m enjoying —
Scannable. During quarantine and social distancing, my kitchen table has become my office. Last week, it was covered in notes, to-do lists, bills, and various scraps of paper. Clutter causes me undue stress, and, for me, a clear desk is often a clear mind, so I used Scannable to scan it all. It was a glorious little win. Kevin Rose (@KevinRose) first recommended Scannable to me. It quickly scans documents while cleaning up the pic, removing shadows, etc., and generally making it easier to read. Once scanned, you can email a PDF to yourself or save the scan to Evernote.

What I’m listening to —
Vivrant Thing (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube) by Q-Tip (@qtiptheabstract).

Quote I’m pondering —
“Without great solitude, no serious work is possible.”
Pablo Picasso

And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Let me know! Just send a tweet to @tferriss and put #5BulletFriday at the end so I can find it.

Have a wonderful weekend, all!

Tim

P.S. Deal of the week — Laird Superfood. I love Laird Superfood products—creamers especially—and was introduced to them years ago by Kelly Starrett and the founders: legendary big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton and volleyball champion Gabby Reece. My favorite two products are their Turmeric Superfood Creamer and Unsweetened Superfood Creamer, and a $10 bag lasts a long time. Both can easily upgrade your daily coffee or tea, and I put one of them in practically every hot beverage.

Each serving is packed with a full range of MCTs to help keep you (and your brain) going from AM to PM, even if you’re using intermittent fasting. They’re packed with plant-based ingredients, such as powdered extra-virgin coconut oil, and flavors include cacao, chocolate mint, and turmeric. Simply stir, power-froth, or blend into your cup of coffee, and you have a superfood latte. This is one affordable indulgence I really love. Get 20% off your first order and score free shipping at lairdsuperfood.com with code TIM at checkout. Stay fueled, my friends!
