🤯 Self-Care for Educators

  1. From cooking to mask-making we’ve been expanding into DIY... why not beauty products? Here’s a list of DIY scrubs, masks, and soaks to revive your skin and your soul.
  2. Summer cocktails are their own brand of self-care. Here are simple recipes for some pretty ones to help take the edge off at the end of a long day. 🍸

💻 Teaching in the Time of COVID

  1. Spearheaded by a teacher with heart, dozens of teachers chime in to help each other out by sharing their favorite resources. See if there’s something good for you, or join in the conversation, or both!
  2. How about a collaborative scrapbook to commemorate this strangest of springs? Try this one from Genially. If a sticker book isn’t your thing, here’s a template for a class newspaper (you might have to register for an account, but it’s free).
  3. While we’re on interesting collaborative lessons, how about closing the year with a class podcast? The cool thing about this is that your students can continue with it over the summer. Read this teacher’s account of how to get started. 🎤

🤪 Parenting while Working Remotely

  1. If you’re still sheltering in place, and you’ve got a toddler, and you’ve run out of ideas (and patience?), here are some simple, concrete suggestions for how to structure the seemingly endless stretch of time.
  2. Feel like you should join your kid in the Tik Tok craze but you’re not really into running alongside your car? How about healthy cooking? Check out Tabitha Brown! 🥕
  3. While we’re on DIY, here’s a simple, quick project that only requires an outgrown pair of jeans — totally doable for kids who can manage a needle and thread. 👖

🌈 Staying Inspired and Finding joy

  1. Great conversations about the future of education, with an eye to the positive. Silver Lining for Learning — listen live on Saturday nights (or anytime for past episodes.)
  2. Singing is truly believing. People from across the globe and across the ages join together to sing Coldplay’s “Fix You” in three-part harmony. We’re gonna be ok. ☮️

That’s it for this week. If you’ve got suggestions for us, send ‘em our way at ideas@remotelearningweekly.com. We’d love to hear from you. In the meantime, stay in, stay safe, and thank you for all that you do. 🙏
