Most people spend their lives chasing what’s next.

Jeff Bezos once explained that Amazon’s strategy didn’t revolve around guessing trends or predicting the future. Instead, it focused on the certainties:

• People will always want a wide selection.

“It’s impossible to imagine a future,” Bezos said, “where a customer comes up and says, ‘Jeff, I just wish the prices were a little higher,’ or, ‘I wish you’d deliver a little more slowly.’”

The truth is, betting on timeless principles feels slow.

It’s not sexy, it might even look stupid at first, and it won’t win you applause on social media. But over time, it creates unstoppable momentum.

Truth #1: Main Street matters (more than you think)

No matter how much the world changes, one truth holds steady: small businesses are a backbone of America.

For decades, they’ve driven nearly half of the economy and employed millions, but their real magic? Trust. People overwhelmingly believe small businesses have a positive effect on the country and create a real, lasting impact on communities.

This isn’t just a trend. It’s not new, and it’s not going away. Small businesses have always been — and always will be — the foundation of opportunity and ownership.

If you’re serious about building wealth, chances are you should stop chasing what’s flashy and fleeting and bet on what’s timeless. Bet on small businesses.

Truth #2: The greatest muscle you can build isn’t physical

The greatest muscle you can build is urgency.

The faster you close the gap between having an idea and acting on it, the faster everything changes. Wealth often isn’t built on big ideas; it’s built on execution. The unsexy, day-in, day-out grind of moving the needle forward.

Truth #4: Parents shape the future of wealth

One of the most meaningful messages I’ve received in years came from a dad on LinkedIn:

Parents are the first and greatest teachers of ownership. If you’re a parent, don’t underestimate the power of your influence.

And if you’re lucky enough to have parents who’ve supported your ambitions, remember — they’ve given you a foundation most people only dream of.

One of the best pieces of advice my dad ever gave me (in Main Street Millionaire):

Don’t waste your energy on pointless battles. The cost of engagement is almost always greater than the reward. Let the pigs roll around in the mud. You’ve got bigger things to do.

Truth #5: The power of choice is timeless

No matter how the world changes — new tech, new industries, AI taking over — no tool or trend can replace the power of choice.

You don’t control what happens around you, but you do control how you respond. Every decision, big or small, is a step closer to the life you want… or further away from it.

The future doesn’t get built by chance — it’s built by decisions. Make yours count.

Truth #6: Drop the ego and look at the data

While everyone’s chasing tech and corporate jobs, the trades are quietly becoming one of the safest bets for the next ~15 years.

Gen Z gets it:

For the time being, you can’t outsource fixing a pipe, rewiring a house, or installing an AC unit to a computer or some talented engineer in India.

While this may not always be the case, our bet is this will remain the case for a while. Consider ways to leverage this trend — and others like it.

Truth #7: Community is your unfair advantage

The most well-documented irony of the century: we’re more “connected” than ever.

Loneliness is at an all-time high — all the time.

The world will keep getting more distracting, but one thing won’t change: belonging to a community will increasingly give you an edge.

In business and life, community is the multiplier.

Ideas grow faster, risks feel smaller, opportunities come easier, and life’s just better when you’re plugged into a good group of people.

Truth #8: Suffering is the price of admission

Ownership isn’t easy, and it’s not supposed to be. In fact, suffering is virtually certain.

You’ll lose deals, make mistakes, and question why you started in the first place.

There will be late nights, tough conversations, and moments when quitting feels like the only option.

But here’s the flip side: it builds resilience. The failures teach lessons. The discomfort forces growth.

You can’t avoid suffering in business, but you can choose how you respond to it. Those who keep going? They’re often the ones who win.

Truth #9: The power is in the balance
