Weekend Recs #62: Little luxuries and links that brought me joy this week
Weekend Recs #62: Little luxuries and links that brought me joy this weekMy life is just a bit better now that I know what a calligram is.This is the Friday post at Downtime, a feel-good weekly roundup of recommendations and delightful distractions. If the email cuts off, you can view it on the web.Hi! How was your week? The house was all mine this week (plus the baby’s) so for the past few nights, rather than flipping on the television, I’ve been hopping into bed early—8:30-ish—with a book.¹ PRAY TELL, is there a more luxurious feeling than doing your full skincare routine then hopping into a fluffy bed to read your pleasure book for hours?! This reading routine’s been reminding me of a funny quote from last month’s interview with author Rufi Thorpe:
Such a good one, right? It’s funny, the things we find luxurious as we get older. :) What’s your version of a “little luxury” these days? Would love to hear in the comments, however weird or however small…—Alisha P.S. If you’re looking for some fall reading recs, don’t forget to check out the Downtime fall books issue. There are some fantastic under-the-radar picks, and the comments section is on FI-YAH 🔥 with even more recommendations. Three quick recs…
…and 5 cozy discoveries:
💬 Psst: Give a rec, get a rec in our subscriber chat. Right now, there are threads about people’s favorite spots in Boston, a plea for comfortable jeans, and what to wear to a high school reunion. Some fun links to click… I stockpiled links like a magpie gathers shiny objects this week.
*sponsored mention ✨ COMMENT SPOTLIGHT ✨ A reader shared what’s on her fall reading list…
PREVIOUSLY ON DOWNTIME Coming up next: An interview with author Rachel Schwartzmann about her new book devoted to slowing down. Have a fun weekend! x Alisha 1 I stayed up finishing Big Fan last night. It was fun, sophisticated, steamy! Full review coming soon but there’s more info here in last week’s post.
