Issue 333 - FSD with  🕶️ and Actually Smart Summon

Cybertruck

Cybertruck spotted towing a USPS mail truck 📷
A Cybertruck was recently seen showing off its towing capabilities with a USPS mail truck hitched to its back. This sighting on Reddit by user DIY_Chris has been capturing quite the attention, showcasing the Cybertruck's utility in action.

FSD

Arizona denies student's license over FSD confusion
In Arizona, a student was initially denied a driver’s license after the test administrator mistakenly believed the Tesla Model Y used for the test was driving itself with Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Despite the confusion, which included a claim that the vehicle had 'too many safety features' and 'insufficient use of the brake pedal' due to regenerative braking, the decision was reversed, and the student was granted her license. The incident has sparked AZDOT to reconsider their evaluation criteria for modern car technologies.

Tesla accelerates FSD v12.5.2.1 rollout
Tesla has significantly ramped up the distribution of Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 12.5.2.1, reaching approximately 7% of registered Tesla vehicles on tracking websites TeslaFi.com and TeslaScope.com. After an initial slow release, a major surge in installations occurred, with peak deployment hitting over 400 Tesla owners daily. Meanwhile, FSD version 12.3.6 still holds the majority, so a bigger push will be coming if this release goes well.

Update 2024.27.25 (FSD 12.5.4) - Release Notes
Tesla has significantly ramped up the distribution of Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 12.5.2.1, reaching approximately 7% of registered Tesla vehicles on tracking websites TeslaFi.com and TeslaScope.com. After an initial slow release, a major surge in installations occurred, with peak deployment hitting over 400 Tesla owners daily. Meanwhile, FSD version 12.3.6 still holds the majority, so a bigger push will be coming if this release goes well. I was able to try this update earlier this week, and I'm loving being able to wear my sunglasses again while my Tesla drives me around without needing to hold the steering wheel.

Accessories & Options

Tesla rolls out fancy 'Tesla' projection puddle lights 📷
Tesla has expanded their accessory offerings in North America with the newly added Projection Puddle Lights for Model Y and Model 3 vehicles, including the latest 2024 Model 3 Highland Refresh as well as older models. Costing $65, these lights project the 'Tesla' wordmark on the ground when the front doors are opened.

Tesla's new silver vs. old silver compared 📷
Tesla enthusiasts are debating the merits of the old and new silver colors on Reddit, with mixed reviews. Some prefer the classic silver for its harmony with chrome elements, while others find the new shade of silver, referred to as 'Lunar Silver,' to be more attractive. I have to say that I spotted a Quicksilver Model Y on the road this past week, and I prefer it to the original silver.

ASS & AutoPark

Tesla expands Vision autopark to more Cybertruck owners
Tesla is extending its Vision Autopark feature, which facilitates automated parking maneuvers, to a broader range of Cybertruck owners following a period of limited initial rollout. The deployment of the new software update (version 2024.32.5.3) has been spotted on a handful of vehicles, hinting that Cybertruck owners with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) could see the update in the upcoming days. Alongside this rollout, Tesla continues to impress with its Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature, seeing positive early feedback from users.

Tesla's enhanced Smart Summon conquers Costco parking 📹
There are fewer parking situations more daunting than a Costco parking lot on the weekend. In this video, Tesla's updated Smart Summon feature proves its capabilities by effortlessly navigating a busy Costco parking lot, as shared by Twitter user @AIDRIVR.

Supercharging

Tesla unveils Q3 2024 Supercharger voting winners
Tesla has concluded the Q3 2024 Supercharger voting early, adding new winners to their future locations map rather than releasing a list. The program, which was delayed after the Supercharger team was reportedly let go, resulted in two new Canadian locations in Lake Louise and Saint-Saveur without specific opening dates. Anomalies in this round included unexpected winners and the absence of several Canadian sites that led in the voting, alongside other North American locations. Tesla has also indicated the next round of voting for Europe has started, with North America and Asia Pacific to follow.

🤓 What the acronym
As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • AZDOT: Arizona Department of Transportation
  • ASS: Actually Smart Summon
  • FSD: Full Self-Driving
