MIDDI - MIDDI Brand Spotlight: Contempee
In search of the finer things in life — because the finest ones still cost too much.MIDDI Brand Spotlight: ContempeeMeet the home decor brand offering impressive faux botanicals on a budget.Any longtime MIDDI reader will know that I remain firmly in the pro-faux camp when it comes to plants and florals (see here). I like the ease of not having to remember to water or trim them and how they can give you the look you’re after for far less money than a fresh bouquet each week. Nowadays, there are so many excellent options that can pass for the real thing. One such brand is Contempee (previously featured here). A brand that began with faux plants and florals and has grown into a full line of minimalistic home decor items, I’m continually impressed by their offerings. As we head into the winter months, now’s the time to inject a little green into your living space that won’t fade or wilt. Keep scrolling to learn more. Contempee was launched in 2021 by founder Thomas Ellens, first selling faux botanicals and vases. Their products are very minimalistic, with bohemian, Scandinavian and Japanese influences. Contempee’s signature product is their faux pampas grass, which has the look of real dried pampas without the shedding and is available in a range of colors. Today, they also offer furniture, candles and wall art. I was drawn to Contempee’s products because of how realistic they look as well as the price point. As with any trend, as faux, dried and preserved botanicals have improved in quality and more people are using them to decorate their homes, prices have gone up. I found the colors and textures of their flowers to be very fresh and bold without being cartoonish and the stems easy to arrange. I chose the white faux blossoms shown here to decorate the mantle in our previous flat. They’re sold in bunches of three for £29.99 and available in four lovely colors. I found those three stems were the perfect amount for a standard vase and added a touch of casual elegance to the room. They’re now sitting on our dining table in the new flat and I’ve got my eye on some kiku flowers next.
