Bitcoin hit an all-time high and has just kept going, even flirting with the 100k mark! Though we’ve had a pullback since then, the crypto market seems poised for a major breakout.

With a rise in Bitcoin price comes a renewed interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Perhaps the time of web3 gaming is almost here after all!

Hot DOGA! Dogami token price hits the stratosphere 🐕

DOGA, the token for Dogami, a dog racing mobile game, shot up over 1800% earlier this week on the back of no real major news. Of course, their fan base was celebrating and calling out many kudos to the team, but personally, I’m pretty sure that this token value increase was due to people confusing DOGA with DOGE, the popular meme-coin made even more popular by Elon Musk.

And while the price has fallen back a bit, dropping 50% from its high point a couple of days ago, its still up over 600% on the week! Honestly, I don’t think this event has anything really to do with web3 gaming, so I wouldn’t say that it’s a sign of things to come. But, our unique insights available to us at PlayToEarn do hint at an exponential growth in the blockchain gaming market soon — so stay tuned!

What about other gaming tokens? 🤔

While many other gaming tokens still linger way behind Bitcoin in this rally so far (with Bitcoin alone claiming over 56% of the total crypto market value), the general trends are still encouraging. The overall number of users has grown considerably over the last six months, shifting from an average of 3 million daily players to 4.5 million now — an increase of 50%!

With increased player interest comes increased speculation in the game tokens. But though that may lead to a short term rise in prices, those tokens that can tie token utility to a fun and engaging game will be the winners in the long run.

And, as always, it’s important to remember that very few crypto games are actually released. Everything that we’re playing and earning from and having fun with is in early access or alpha or beta. Even if you’re new to blockchain gaming, you’re still an early adopter!
