Forbes - Pride Month Goes Virtual

Morning Banter

April showers bring May flowers, and June brings...LGBT Pride.

Pride Month has turned into a marketing bonanza over the years, as retailers and brands adorn any and everything with rainbow colors. Rainbow shampoo? That exists. Rainbow Listerine? That too. Rainbow socks? Check.

While the LGBT+ community has emerged as a niche market for advertisers, this year’s company-sponsored Pride celebrations will be vastly different from previous years. Don’t expect to see rainbow-plastered store window displays.

Instead, Pride marketing campaigns will likely go digital as shoppers continue to practice social distancing. Internally, brands will have to step up and find creative and authentic ways to support and celebrate their LGBT employees.

Just how will they do that? Only time will tell. But in the interim, I’d like to hear from you. How does your organization plan to celebrate Pride 2020?
