Startup Resources - 🛠 Distribution domination

Hello πŸ‘‹

If you added your comment on my Indie Hackers post last week, thank you.

The conclusion is that there's no single term to describe a bootstrapped founder / entrepreneur / indie hacker etc etc. Reading the room is probably the best approach.

My favorite answer was "Emperor of the free market" πŸ‘‘ πŸ˜€

Moving on...

Last issue's most clicked resource was the email onboarding swipes

On to this week's tools and articles...

πŸ›  Tools

Artify

A new web-based design editor with a massive library of illustrations, icons and other elements.

Nice and easy - can try it out for free although limited to what elements you can use. But you'll get the idea.

The lifetime deal maybe worth it for full access to the 2 million icons and illustrations.

Documentator

Saw a tweet from Val Geisler about help documents and knowledge bases being an underrated marketing opportunity. Realized that if I'm choosing a tool then 99% of the time I'm looking in the help docs to make sure it does exactly what I want, before I sign up.

Am sure help docs also have a big impact on churn rates.

So what's the lesson?

Create good, logical help docs that fill all the gaps a user might have. Take all the customer support questions you get and keep adding to the documents. Make it look nice and write it in a helpful way. Make help docs a joy to use.

I found Documentator not long after seeing that tweet. Looks like an easy way to create good looking documentation.

Lander - Landing page copywriting template

A very simple landing page template with a guide as to what to put in each section. Nothing sophisticated here - just copywriting advice.

If you follow this format and take on the ideas, you'll go further than most.

If you want the design as a starting point, the template is cloneable.

Untools - Tools for better thinking

Quick one to end the tools section...

A collection of thinking tools and frameworks to help you solve problems, make decisions and understand systems.

Nicely explained and illustrated.

How I promote my content

In May 2019, Harry Dry published his first blog post. No audience to start with.

One year later he has 19K subscribers on his email list. And a lot of raving fans. Without using ads.

How did he do it?

Well, first... great quality content. And second, a "be everywhere" distribution strategy. Consistently applied.

He summarizes what he does in this article.

But you've probably already seen it. Because that's what he does.

Turning a Side Hustle into a $9k/mo Business, with Pat Walls from Starter Story

Pat Walls runs Starter Story, a site packed full of interviews with founders talking about how their businesses started and how they're doing today.

It wasn't the first thing he built and wasn't really supposed to become his main business.

So, how did he get here?

Pat tells his own founder story on The Failory Podcast.
